Movie Day Saturday

I have been fighting the plague all week and decided to have a movie marathon with Molly.  I pulled some dvds out and let her pick.

Aunt Tracey was in town and we had a lovely meal.

The things grandfathers do for their granddaughters.
Molly was not impressed with my sneak attempt at a picture.  I think Aunt Tracey and Granny might be napping.
 Night night Grandpa!

Clean windows

The best way to get Molly to clean the windows… buy seasonal window art!

Sushi with Aunt Tracey

We went to Tsugaru's in Japantown tonight with Aunt Tracey.  Molly gobbled up the bean sprout appetizer salad they gave us.

Molly also earned a lollipop and had her hair done by our waitress.

Guitar Shop Field Trip

Teacher Katie sent me this pic from the Guitar Shop Field Trip.  Molly was mesmerized…. and not the only kid to wonder why they didn't get a guitar when they were done.

SYTYCD Tour 2013

Katrine, Molly, and I went to see the So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour tonight and it was amazing!  My favorite part was when Molly was sitting in my lap and asked me how old she had to be before she could get up on stage and dance like that!  I foresee dance lessons in someone's future…

(Molly was not into the selfie, but you can see her purple shirt between us)

Molly's guitar

The kids made guitars in school today as they are going on a field trip to a guitar shop on Monday.  The guitar shop has been in the family of one of the boy's in Molly's class for three generations.  They are so excited!

Trash on campus?

One of the other classes made bug hotels in hopes that some guests will move in over the weekend.

I love this school!

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

It's already been one of those days…

...and it's not even 9:00 am!

So far this morning I have been a doctor (emergency bandaid situation), a rescuer (picked up and moved an earthworm to safety from the blacktop which would have been sure death), a cleaner (major mud removal from shoes and bottom of pants, not my kid), herder (chasing down a runner halfway across campus, not my kid), and composter (removing banana goop from bottom of boot, this was my kid). All this before my double shift in the classroom followed by after school planning meeting for appreciation luncheon.

I really wish I drank coffee.

The boots make the ensemble...

Reason #9,823 Molly is awesome

When I ask her to feed the cats a scoop she marks it on the white board and then draws a new picture for me to discover.  She's all sorts of awesome.

I hope I don't have to pee!

Brownies and Bars Exchange

There were plenty of leftovers so I took some with me and dropped them off at a fire station where a girlfriend works.  The firefighters were VERY happy to see me and told me to come back any time.  I also packed up several little boxes of assorted goods and handed them out to the office staff at Molly's school and to her teacher.  It was a crazy amount of baked goods!

Movie Night at school

One of the jobs I have at Molly's school is Social, Celebration & Event Coordinator.  Teacher Katie recently finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to the class and they LOVED it.  I got permission from the office staff to set up a movie night at the school.

First up, I made Wonka Bars:

One of the Wonka Bars had a Golden Ticket inside.  That lucky kid won a copy of the movie (the 1971 Gene Wilder version).  Of course as soon as I opened the box to hand them out one of the older brothers chimed in with, "Hey! Those are Hershey bars." Cut me some slack kid!

I picked up pizza from a local family run place (Legend's Pizza) per recommendation from one of the moms.  They were great and gave me a discount.  Plus they filled out some frequent diner cards and I have a free pizza coming my way.

I told the kids to come in their PJs so they would be all ready for bed when they got home.  Next time I would suggest pillows along with the blankets they brought.  Plus, camping chairs for the parents as the office chairs got a little stiff about halfway through.

Everyone had a great time and several kids wanted to know why they couldn't spend the night.

Where's Molly?  Oh, playing with the younger sister of a class mate of course!
