Ughh!
Well, being fast/early at many things is cool...but not when its teething. Molly has been chewing on her hands alot these past 2 days, but I finally determined its not due to hunger, and she seems to be in pain this evening. I let her chew my thumb for 20min which she loved, but when my thumb got sore.. I took it away. She freeked. I researched online and while this is early, its not too uncommon. I guess a few babies pop teeth this soon. Off to the store to get teething supplies!

"Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"
And it's a good thing too we have no place to go because it is damn chilly outside! Yukon read 20 when I ran to the store. I felt really bad for all the construction workers that are building new homes in the area. At least the sun was out for the most part. Although right now it's pretty overcast and looking like it's about to snow any minute. We're supposed to get a few inches of new snow tonight.
Molly had her first big diaper blow out today. She was sitting in my lap and there was quite the rumble from down under. When I picked her up to change her I could see it had come out the top of her diaper in the back. I suppose in the sitting position there was no place to go but up. She's wearing disposables right now since we're in Tahoe. I wonder if that has something to do with it because she's had far heavier loads in her cloth diapers and the covers always seem to hold it in. Really the only time the cloth diapers can't contain it is at night when she pees a lot because it gets too saturated and seeps out around her leg. She's moved up from the infant size to the regular size and since then we've had some issues because the seal around her leg isn't quite as tight. We need the larger size for length, but her legs aren't quite full enough to have the same seal. The only other time we've had issues is when we haven't properly tucked the cloth diaper into the cover. Sometimes a little edge sticks out and that will get her outfit wet. All in all the cloth diapers have been great. I highly recommend.
And there goes another rumble from down under... good lord child!

Weigh in
N took Molly on the scale and she currently weighs 14.8 lbs (roughly 14 lbs 13 oz). This is just a rough estimate as N weighs himself and then weighs himself holding Molly. She's getting quite the milk belly.
Molly's first xmas
Molly is currently sleeping soundly in her swing chair. She had a big day. All of her grandparents were here and very excited to take part in her very first xmas. I had the bright idea of getting mold imprints of her hands and feet for everyone. I went to Michael's (arts & crafts store) and picked up 4 kits. The kits consisted of a plastic tray, a cement like mix, and some tiles for decorating. My idea was to press Molly's hands and feet into each mold. Heh.
When it came time to putting her hands in it (she was sleeping soundly at the time as I thought this was our best bet to avoid get fist imprints) she woke up and was *not* happy. We got one hand imprint in the first mold. The rest of the molds were of her feet. Nathan was able to get a better imprint than me, but Molly was still not very happy about this whole process. We have it all on film for your viewing pleasure. Once we were done she had some boob time and slept soundly in her crib through dinner. Actually, that part worked out really well. My dad is looking forward to telling Molly all about the torture we put her through on her first xmas.
We stopped exchanging xmas gifts among the adults, but Molly scored some cool loot. My favorite was her Mommy's Little Monster beanie from Uncle Kyle. That will definitely come in handy when we head up to Tahoe. We also got all of the grandparents a digital photo frame and loaded them up with pics of Molly. I don't think my mom is going to get anything done as all her time will be spent staring at this frame when she's not over here staring at Molly.
We plan on heading up to Tahoe tomorrow and staying for a week. Still not quite sure how we're going to fit 4 dogs (we're dogsitting), 2 cats, 2 adults, and 1 Molly into the Yukon plus all of the crap needed for 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 adults, and 1 Molly. This should test N's mad packing skills.
Video and pics are all up to N and he's currently napping on the couch. Hopefully he'll get something up before we leave.
Hope everyone had a very merry xmas and here's to a happy new year!

Firsts!
This weekend I noticed some things that made me glow. I've seen Molly smile, laugh, and stare at her hand before...but most of these actions were fairly random/simple. I couldn't directly reproduce them, they just sorta happened. This weekend I was able to cause her to smile at me 3 times! I was a very happy daddy. The other neet thing was she began staring at her hand while moving it around... So she's clearly aware that she's in control of her hands now, and likes to watch them move up and down (and into her mouth). Its starting to sink in, she is human!!! ;)
sleep, glorious sleep
Molly had been averaging 8-9 hours of sleep a night, but she has recently jumped up to 10-11 hours at night. She slept 11 hours Thursday night, but I figured that was the result of all the shots she had. Then she slept 10 hours Friday night, just shy of 11 Saturday night, and another 10 and a half last night. I hope this trend continues.

2 month checkup
Molly went in for her 2 month checkup today. She weighed in just shy of 13 lbs at 12 lbs 14.5 oz. They measured her length at 24 inches, but I still think she's 25 (that's the measurement I got on her tummy time mat). They didn't pull her legs all the way straight and I think they rounded down. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Her head measurement was 41 (I think, they always say this one so quick). She was still in the 95-97th percentile for all measurements so she's doing great. Doc is very impressed she is still being only breast fed considering her growth (one of the nurses thought this was her 4 month checkup). I did tell her I broke down and did formula one day and she said it would be fine to do a bottle every day. I'm still going to try and pump as much as I can to avoid that. Right now I have 6 whole bottles in the fridge. Not all of them are full, but most of them are so I say that's a victory. It's probably been a month or so since I've had this many bottles in the fridge.
Unfortunately I've been sick most of the week, but the upside is Molly hasn't shown any signs. Although today the poor girl had 4 shots (two in each thigh) and has been pretty pissed off as a result. Her lungs are nice and developed and she let the whole world know she wasn't happy. If you heard screaming around noon Pacific time that was her.
Molly has been more and more successful at getting her thumb in her mouth. I swear she glares at me when I pop it back out. She still needs to work on the angle though as she tends to stick it straight up into the roof of her mouth and gags on it. However, this is not exactly a trick I want her to get the hang of. For the most part she just sucks on her hands when she's hungry which is pretty much all the time. We call this "yummy fist" and know that's our warning to get a boob or a bottle ready ASAP!
Molly still sleeps through the night for a good 8-9 hours if she gets a good feed in before she konks out. If she's had a long day she sometimes passes out before she's had a chance to get enough in her belly. These nights she'll sleep around 6 hours, but I can usually change her and feed her and get her back into bed within 30 minutes and then she'll sleep another 4. That doesn't happen too often, maybe once a week. If only my boobs could last as long I'd be getting a good night's sleep every night.
Molly's absolute favorite thing is to be naked on her changing table. As soon as you take the diaper off she's happy and chatty and quite content to stay that way. Once her coordination gets better I have a feeling we're going to need to invest in the snap lock diaper cover since she'll most likely want them off all the time.

growing like a weed
I have been retiring clothes left and right since Miss Molly turned 1 month old. Pretty much anything that says Newborn or 0-3 months has been retired at this point (she was 7 weeks on Friday). Due to baby clothes and their sizing not making *any* sense whatsoever it's a hit or a miss on the 3 month and 3-6 month clothing. Some fit and some are too short. I'm finding 6 month and 6-9 month clothing to be a great length, but there's a little too much fabric around her neck so she tends to catch it in her mouth when in her swing chair or car seat and drool.
She also got her thumb in her mouth the week before Thanksgiving and has been trying to get it back in ever since. I'm hoping she doesn't get the hang of it any time soon since that will be a hard habit to break. Right now she seems pretty content sucking and smacking on her hands. Not really a fan of the pacifier. She'll take it for a little bit every now and then, but she puts her hands out to see if a bottle with milk is attached and will spit it out once she realizes there is no food behind it. She's also learned all of our tricks (sucking on our finger, nose, etc) and tends to stick out her tongue to tastes things before sucking on them. There's no tricking little miss hungry piggy... when she wants food she will not be deterred!
She's still eating a ton. I am lucky if I can pump in the morning because she pretty much eats all day long. I broke down and gave her some formula last week after a marathon 2 and a half hour eating session (she had also gone through everything in storage) and she was still hungry! She wasn't really a fan. She took it, but she looked very despondent when she was done. However, that little break allowed me to get my supply back up and I haven't had to give her any since. Still, it would be nice to pump more and get a little ahead of the game so N can give her more bottles and I can have a longer break. I feel like she eats an hour for every hour she's not on the boob. There's a reason she's fitting into 6 month clothing!
In a shocking turn of events, she's a talker! I don't know *where* she gets that from. Once she's changed she likes hanging out nekkid on her changing mat chatting up a storm. She also talks to herself in her swing chair. We've had a few smiles, but they mostly occur once she's eaten and is milk drunk and drifting off to sleep. Haven't had a smile in reaction to anything yet, but hopefully it will happen soon.
N finally got the software update he needed to edit videos with Leopard so harass him into posting more videos!
