One... Two... Ah Ah Ah!

Molly has turned into The Count lately. She has always been good with her numbers and can easily count (correctly) well into the 50's. However, now she is starting to count objects. If there are three items she will count them off and then name them Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather (the fairies from Sleeping Beauty, duh!). If there are four she still usually does the fairies and then adds in Sleeping Beauty herself. Any more than 4 and it's any number of Disney movie/characters that she'll rattle off once she's done counting. I'm not sure why she always follows up counting with character names, but it's super cute.

One day I caught her adding. I'm not sure if it was on purpose, but it was pretty cool. Molly was counting out toys and had 4 in front of her. However, there were two on one side of her and two on the other. Molly then said, "One, two... Two and two... Four." It's probably coincidence, but I'll take it!

It's Molly Scissorhands!

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a nice mellow day at home. Chris, Carina, and Temperence came over in the afternoon and brought dinner with them. Since N missed Thanksgiving last year due to a lovely fast for a stomach problem, Chris did NOT want him to miss out again this year. Molly and Temperence played with each other. I think a football game was on the tv. We ate... and ate... and ate some more. All in all a very nice and relaxing Thanksgiving.

Before everyone arrived Molly got some daddy/pony time in:

Temperence spent a better part of the day carrying this stool around:

Dinner was finger lickin' good:

It's pajama time!

Ear update... again...

Molly had a follow up doc appt on Monday for her ongoing ear drainage issues. There is still fluid in both ears, but it is slowly going down. This is just something we need to keep an eye on. We're to continue with the nasal spray, but can bump the twice a day routine down to every other day. Molly actually asks for nasal spray now. She knows she gets a treat. She will hold still while we do the spray, but whines, "Noohooohooo!" the entire time. It's actually pretty funny.

We also returned to swim class. Molly was all sorts of excited when she saw me packing up her bathing suit and towel. Once we arrived she practically skipped inside. Getting dressed was no problem. She was all excited about getting in the pool... until it came time to actually get in the pool. Molly walked over to the stairs and I thought all was well until she stopped just shy of them, grabbed her ears, and cried, "It hurts!". The last swim class Molly had been to (about three weeks prior) was cut short about halfway through when Molly went over to the stairs and started crying. The teacher couldn't console her and when I walked over she told me she wanted to go home. I pulled her out of class she calmed down by the time we got to the car. This was when the doc put her on antibiotics and told us to avoid swim class. The fluid in her ears was causing her pain in the pool and unfortunately those memories came rushing back.

So, that first class back consisted of me sitting a few feet away from the stairs for the duration of class. Molly sat with me for the most part, but made a few ventures over to the top of the steps into the pool. She never did go in. I was going to take her to open swim last Monday, but had a horrible head cold. Last Thursday's class I was hoping Molly would venture in. She did. It just took her half the class to warm up. Her teacher put the Disney Princesses on the top step to help lure Molly in. It worked. She was definitely interested in getting her hands on Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Molly went to the top of the steps several times and then finally got halfway in. By halfway I don't mean her bottom half. Oh no, that would be expected. Molly laid across the top step and slowly submerged ONE SIDE of her body in. First the leg. Then her arm. Then she would dip half her torso in before pulling herself back out. She did this several times. Both sides. Very dramatic. Her teacher and I could not make eye contact with each other because we were both trying really hard to not laugh. Then about 15 minutes into her 30 minute class Molly went down the stairs and got all the way in. The teacher left her alone for a bit since we were both not sure how long this was going to last. Two minutes later Molly was sitting down on the bottom of the pool completely submerged. So, over the whole phobia. Phew! I'm just happy my little fishie is back!

Haircut

Molly's bangs were getting in her eyes so it was time to take some length off. The hairdresser was able to get her hair up. Ribbons were attempted. Attempt failed.

Cozy morning!

Molly has been enjoying mommy's robe.

A love affair...

...with my robe?!?!

Molly is having a personal relationship with my robe. The lights in our bathroom were off, but we could hear her in there singing to it. N peeked in and saw that she was wrapping the belt around her hands and basically caressing my robe. When Molly saw him she told him to get out. I then snuck up with my camera and took this:

More potential future blackmail? Quite possible.

Chillin' with Temperence...

Yesterday Carina and Temperence came over for the day while N helped Chris move. Carina stayed here with the girls while I ran out to an appointment. I brought In N' Out back for the mom's lunch and Temperence was VERY interested.

Once both girls were down for their naps Carina took off for an appointment of her own and then met up with Chris to help him finish moving. N got home a little bit after Temperence woke up. Once Molly woke up it was all about play time.

Temperence is fascinated by pretty much everything Molly does:

Gotta love those eyes!

Temperence also loves Sadie and loves calling her dog:

Gotta love the little perches kids find to sit on:

Temperence also LOVED the game of chase Molly and N played. By this point Molly was starting to get a little jealous and tells N to only chase her and not Temperence. Luckily Temperence didn't hear and/or didn't care.

Future blackmail

The other morning Molly was not interested in clothes whatsoever and only wanted to wear her Sleeping Beauty panties. Fine. Whatever. We had no place to be. I then go get dressed and when I come out I discover Molly found a pair of my socks and decided to accessorize with them.

First she wore them as gloves.

Then she switched over to stockings. She's also counting out mommy's red toes.

Yup, excellent future blackmail we've got here. More pictures were taken, but I'll keep those in my back pocket until I really need them.

New workout?

Those are little board books under Molly's hands and feet. She's been "walking" across the kitchen like this for the last 10 minutes.

Trick or Treat

Since Molly's birthday is in October I've always done Halloween themed parties. From the cake to the goody bags, everything is Halloween. As a result she seems to be pretty into the holiday. Last year we went trick o' treating to a few houses, but I think the concept was a little much for a 2 year old. This year I had much higher hopes and was not disappointed. Molly was totally into it... and not just the trick or treating part. When we walked around the neighborhood she was taking in EVERYTHING. She loved all the decorations. She loved all the costumes. The whole candy thing was a nice bonus too. However, it was definitely secondary to taking in all the details as we had to remind her more than once to say trick or treat and get out of the way of the other kids. Molly kept stopping and would turn around to ask us if we were seeing everything she was. It was beyond adorable.

Molly's hat was a little hot to wear so she insisted on holding it. The problem was she kept holding it above her purple pumpkin bucket which made GETTING the candy a little tricky. Here she is getting into the swing of things with Granny Marsh.

Approaching our first neighbor...

Woody and Buzz:

Woody and Jessie:

Molly likes to travel with an entourage:

Five Little Pumpkins?

All done:

For those of you wondering why Molly went as Woody from Toy Story instead of Jessie it's simple... that's who she identifies with. Ever since we took her to see Toy Story 3 in the theater back in June she has called herself Woody. N is Buzz and every now and then I get Jessie. Hence the Halloween costumes. Molly would refer to herself as Woody and N as Buzz when playing. However, I personally think her identifying with Woody has everything to do with Bullseye. Toy Story started her obsession with horsies and it has been holding strong ever since.
