Daddy's Little Helper

N got Molly a little battery operated blower so she can help him clean up the leaves in the back yard.

Octopus ribbon!

Molly got her Octopus ribbon today at swim class.

It only took a year.

No seriously, a year.

I blame Ariel.  Molly likes to do what she calls her mermaid swim.  It involves NOT kicking, keeping her legs together like a tail, and diving down to the bottom of the pool.

A few weeks back Molly's swim coach switched out to one she's had before (Stacey) and she's awesome!  She lets Molly do her mermaid swim AFTER she does a skill right.  Today she was bound and determined Molly was going to pass this level and move onto the next.  I swear the coach has come by AT LEAST 4 times before to do the test.  Today was finally the day she did everything right in front of the person with ribbons.

Octopus

Our Octopus level builds on the skills that our students have learned in the Jellyfish level. In this level we are concentrating on developing a strong and efficient kick to enable students to propel themselves through the water. The primary skills the student needs to master to move to the next level include:

• Being able to push off from the step or wall and kick for 10 feet in good body position
• Being able to float on their back unassisted for a count of 10
• Being able to swim unassisted, then roll to their back, and then return to their tummy and continue swimming

Molly has been able to do these skills for a while now, but never on a consistent basis.  I credit Coach Stacey with getting her through these today because she KNEW Molly could do it, but focus was the issue when it came down to being tested on them.

Next up is Sea Turtle... time to incorporate those scoopers!

Sea Turtle

In our Sea Turtle level, our students will be adding arm strokes to their glide with kicks. The primary skills the student needs to master to move to the next level include:

• Being able to push off, start kicking and then add and consistently perform 4 arm strokes in good form
• Being able to push off and glide, then kick and roll to their back to get a breath and then return to their tummy

My little nurse...

N flew down to San Diego for a work conference and I'm slowly dying from a miserable cold.  Today Molly made me the little dude you see in this pic.  Then before she went to bed she unwrapped some cough drops and put them in a bowl by my bed so I wouldn't have to deal with wrappers in the middle of the night.  She's so awesome!

Reason # 5,837,912 Molly rocks...

N flew down to LA yesterday (second trip THIS week) and ended up pulling an all-nighter in the data center.  He flew back this morning and has been pretty zombified all day.  Around 6 he fell asleep in one of the chairs in our living room.... with Molly laying on top of him.  Around 6:30 I nudged him awake and told him he should just go to bed.  Molly then takes him by his hand, leads him to the bedroom, tucks him into bed, pulled the curtains shut, and kissed him on the forehead saying, "Night, night daddy" before shutting the door.

Such a thoughtful little girl...

Play data with Maya

Maya's school had another In Service day so we scheduled a day long play date.  N was working crazy hours so I took the girls to Happy Hollow so he could catch up on some much needed sleep.  They had a blast.

Happy Birthday N!

I couldn't resist and picked N up this My Little Pony t-shirt!

 He seems to like it.
Molly picked out her own gift for daddy.
It's called Gobble Gobble Guppies... since they always call each other Guppy (it's a Little Mermaid thing) Molly loved it.

That night we went out to dinner in Los Gatos and had some birthday ice cream at Main Street Burgers.

Plate Project

Every year they do this plate project at Molly's school. She draws a picture on the designated paper and it's made into a plate.  This year this is what she did:

So, want to know who's who?  The one on the left with red hair is me.  The one on the right with the brown hair and wearing blue is Molly.  The little one down front? That's daddy.

Perhaps daddy has been traveling a bit too much these days, no?

Better late than never, right?

I had full intentions of dyeing eggs on Saturday. However between cleaning the house for Easter Brunch, doing laundry, and heading out for a friend's birthday we ran out of time. I thought we could just do them on Sunday, but then the forecasted rain didn't show up so we spent a fair amount of the day out back. So Monday morning it was! Molly had fun and was a little bummed when we ran out of eggs.
