First day of school

Molly started kindergarten today.  Kindergarten!  Even though we made the decision to hold off for a year it still seems waaaay too soon.  I was nervous about getting up in time to get down to her school since there will be a bit of a commute.  Molly got into Discovery 2 which is a charter school that just opened up.  N went to a work party last Saturday to help get things done before the doors opened today.  It's still a work in progress, but it's going to be worth it.  It's a parent participation school so everyone is very involved.  I will be working in the classroom once I complete the Positive Discipline Training over the next three weeks (9 hours total).
As for the morning routine I shifted Molly's hours back.  We now start her bedtime routine at 6:00 pm with lights out and in bed by 7:00 pm.  It's working so far.  Yesterday she was already in the living room when I went to check on her before doing our dry run down to the school.  Then this morning I heard her door open when I went into the office to feed the cats.  I was afraid I was going to have to wake her up everyone morning and it would be a fight to get out the door.  So far so good (*knock on wood*).
N joined us for the first day of school and we got there a bit early.  It gave N the opportunity to snap some pics before the classroom door opened.  Parents were allowed to stay for the first half an hour and then we were ushered out to the blacktop for some coffee and snacks.  Molly was immediately comfortable in her classroom and I got a distracted wave when we headed out as she was already chatting up a new friend.
When I went to pick Molly up she had a bit of a 1,000 yard stare going on.  One of the boys in her class had his birthday that day so everyone got a popsicle.  You can see in the pic above she's a bit tired.
However, on the way to the car she insisted on having her picture taken next to the school sign.  Since the school is so new a banner is all we've got.  Molly had a great first day and cannot wait to go back and see her new friends.

Phew!
