Disneyland, Character Breakfast

We checked out Wednesday, but went to the Character Breakfast first. On the way in we got a group shot with Pluto. I sat Molly between N and I with our backs facing the window. This way she could see the characters (which she kept pointing out), but wasn't in a position where they could come up behind her. She was not quite down with the whole taking pictures with characters thing. I had been pointing them out to her as I saw them over the course of the trip, but whenever I mentioned going over to take a picture Molly refused. She was much happier pointing out Sleepy Beauty and the Fairy Godmother every time they passed by from the nice confines of her chair between mommy and daddy. The breakfast was buffet style and Molly dug the Mickey pancakes and fresh fruit. We stuffed ourselves silly and then headed back to the room to pack.

I packed up while N did one last con call. We were going to caravan back with the Jodoins as the Chouns were staying another day. We were on the road by 10:30 and Molly was crashed out an hour later. Unfortunately we had to stop for gas so we woke her up around 1:00 and she was NOT happy about it. She spent most of lunch snuggling N. When we got back in the car we set her up with some movies on the iPad, but she never fell back asleep. Still, she was content and we were able to drive straight through and got home a little after 5:00.

All in all it was an excellent trip. I'd have to say it was more for me than for Molly as the only way she's going to remember it is from pictures, but it was still fun to do with friends. The fact that under 3 got in free didn't hurt either. Still, I think 5 or older is probably a much more realistic age to take kids to the park. Jamie (turning 7 in July) was able to go on a lot more rides and with her you didn't have the burden of a stroller/diaper bag. I'm not saying I regret going as we were able to hang out with good friends, but as for whether or not it was worth it to take a 3 year old I would lean towards "Wait until they are a bit older"... unless you go with friends and just want to hang out.
